2" Silver Metal Frames

2" Silver Metal Frames

Vintage 70's
Share this find on:
Rrare 2" (49mm) lenses in a thin silver metal frame very reminiscent of their 1920's precedors.

Many of my metal round customers have asked me if I ever come across larger diameter metal rounds.
No.  Never.  Though it just so happened that I purchased an optician's vintage store inventory recently, low and behold were 2 pairs of silver plated thin metal round frames.

One made in Japan having standard standard 90˙ temple/frame hinges, and the other made in Korea with free swing temples accomodating just about any head size. The free hinge was popular in the early part of the 20th century when the lens diameter was pretty much standardized at about 1 1/2" (38mm) and they used this type of hinge to satisfy the varied head sizes.
These are true vintage NOS (new old stock) from the 1970's.  They have been cleaned ultrasonically and polished where necessary.  Original nose pads have turned a pale yellow and are still clear and in excellent condition. Your optician can replace them if you want brand spankin' new ones.

Such a great find.  If you've always coveted a pair of these, don't wait.  Their price is reasonable considering their demand and lack of availablity.  Only 1 pair available for each style. Only here at Retro Focus Eyewear.
